Obverse: The date is called a stair-step date. The 8 and 4 are higher than the adjacent numbers giving a stair-step appearance. Star 7 has been has been recut at the upper point. The recutting can be seen at both sides of the point.
Reverse: There is a vertical tine from the right corner of the shield extending nearly into the field. The 5 has a long pointed horn-top. The 5 is substantially higher than the zero.
